Finally caught up with Moonlight today. What a fine film. Well acted and directed, beautifully shot, great control of mood and exceptionally well written, particularly in terms of pacing.
I was also impressed that, while draped with nuance and internal struggle for the main characters, it didn't shy away from big cathartic moments. That blend of bravery and intelligence isn't always rewarded, or always rewarding when misjudged.
From what I've seen, Moonlight's (momentarily belated) Oscar was entirely deserved.
